Community unites for the ANZAC Day River Run

13 April 2024

Mont Property has thrown its support behind this year’s ANZAC Day River Run, as the local community rallies for the much-loved annual event.

The 2024 ANZAC Day River Run will be held on ANZAC Day – Thursday, April 25 – as a 4km or 8km walk/run along the Swan River, starting at Tompkins Park, Alfred Cove.

Now in its 12th year, the event is organised by Alfred Cove gym Fitness Results and is generously supported by local businesses. It caters for seasoned runners, casual joggers and those who prefer a leisurely walk with family.

Organiser Ryan Cook said the River Run fostered community spirit and paid respect to fallen heroes, while raising important funds for the Fremantle Foundation.

“This event is about bringing the community together, promoting small businesses who kindly help with sponsorships, encouraging fitness and highlighting the amazing work of the Fremantle Foundation,” Mr Cook said.

“But most importantly, it is about acknowledging the ANZAC spirit from years gone by and reconnecting with that.”

Mont Managing Director Matthew Podesta said Mont was proud to sponsor the River Run for the sixth year.

“The River Run has become a staple in the local events schedule because of its inclusive ability to draw participants from all walks of life, from professional runners to families with kids,” Mr Podesta said.

“Community is the foundation of everything we do at Mont and I’m looking forward to taking part in this special event that celebrates our wonderful neighbourhood.”

The 2023 run is sponsored by Mont Property, The Good Grocer Applecross, TLC Dental, Carpet Court Myaree, The Camfield, Armando Sports, GTT Ventures, Bull Motors Bodies, Discovery Alert, Site Sentry and Blue Diamond Machinery.

Part proceeds from the event will be donated to the Fremantle Foundation, which has helped charitable organisations across Fremantle and the broader WA community since 2010.

The Mont Property 8km run/walk starts at 8.30am and The Good Grocer 4km run/walk commences at 8.40am. A River Run t-shirt, race bib and timing chip are included in the registration fee. Breakfast after the race will be supplied by The Good Grocer Applecross.
