Mont supports community river run that pays homage to ANZAC spirit

9 April 2022

Mont Property has thrown its support behind this year’s Fitness Results annual ANZAC River Run for the fourth year, as the community rallies in a show of solidarity for the ANZAC spirit.

The 2022 ANZAC River Run will be held on ANZAC Day, April 25, with options of a 4km or 8km walk/run along the river, starting at Tompkins Park, Alfred Cove.

Up to 300 competitors are expected to take part in the 10th annual event, which has been organised by Fitness Results and is supported by local businesses.

Part proceeds from the ANZAC River Run will be donated to the Fremantle Foundation, a charity that was established in 2010 to foster community philanthropy and support a variety of social, cultural, educational, health and environmental needs.

Fitness Results owner Ryan Cook said the ANZAC River Run had been born from desire to harness community spirit in a fun way that promoted health and wellbeing.

“We pride our gym as being community focused and promoting fun in fitness and that message extends to the ANZAC River Run,” Mr Cook said.

“It’s encouraging people to get out and pound the pavement, all for a good cause. It’s about the community focus, promoting fitness and honouring the ANZACs and the amazing work of the Fremantle Foundation.”

Mont managing director Matthew Podesta said Mont was proud to sponsor the popular community event, which was now a highlight on the local events calendar.

“This is a special event, not only because it draws our community together, but because it epitomises the ANZAC spirit and serves as an opportunity to reflect on the incredible courage and sacrifices our soldiers made,” Mr Podesta said.

“The atrocities of war are only too relevant when we see the terrible tragedy in the Ukraine and the displacement of people across Europe at the moment.”

Fremantle Foundation Executive Officer Sue Stepatschuk said the organisation greatly appreciated the support from the community through the ANZAC River Run.

“Fitness Results has been generously supporting the Fremantle Foundation for six years,” Ms Stepatschuk said.

“Each year, their valuable contribution helps us strengthen and support the WA community by supporting local charities who deliver support to those most vulnerable.”

The 2022 run is sponsored by Mont Property, The Good Grocer Applecross, The Space Station, TLC Dental, Carpet Court Myaree, The Camfield and Bull Motors Bodies.

The 8km run/walk starts at 8.30am and the 4km run/walk commences at 8.40am. A River Run t-shirt, race bib and timing chip are included in the registration fee.
