Applecross Is Centre Stage For The Jacaranda Festival

18 November 2020

It’s the most beautiful time of the year in Applecross with the blooming jacaranda trees covering the suburb in shade and purple blossoms, and the return of warm, sunny days.

As a sponsor of the Applecross Rotary Club, Mont Property is proud to support the much loved Rotary Jacaranda Festival which is a celebration of the village of Applecross and our relaxed, family-friendly lifestyle.

After such a difficult year of Covid-19 and lockdowns, there are more reasons than ever before to celebrate the value of our community and our connections to each other this year.

The Rotary Club has pulled off a miracle in making the event happen again for the 20th annual festival. While strict Covid-19 measures will be in place, there are 150 plus stalls and activities that will line Ardross St creating a fun market vibe that enhances the gourmet and boutique nature of the shopping strip.

“The Jacaranda Festival is my favourite community event,” says Mont Property Managing Director, Matthew Podesta. “The purple backdrop of the Jacarandas make the village look so picturesque, and it’s always great to see families and friends out and enjoying themselves locally in the sunshine.

“Local businesses get behind it and it’s always a great day.”

This year, highlights include activities for kids, gourmet experiences for foodies and a spot of Christmas shopping.

A Kids Zone will entertain the little ones with a petting farm, gym bus, bouncy castle, merry go round and face painting. Street theatre acts will rove along Ardross St performing as they go, and the delicious aroma of tasty, specialty food specially designed to be eaten under a shady Jacaranda tree, or in the covered eat zone.

For those wanting to help Santa, there will be stalls featuring hand-crafted items including jewellery, art, woodcraft, natural body products and environmentally friendly and fashionable clothing. Community organisations will also be present sharing their knowledge of the City of Melville, and parking will be available at Applecross Primary School for the cost of a gold coin donation. Plus there will be prizes and competitions across the day.

In line with Covid restrictions, there will be ample signage and hand cleaning stations. Those attending will need to check-in using a QR code and pre-bookings are preferred. There will be Covid Marshals on hand to oversee standard rules relating to events.

Mont Property joins other club sponsors The Good Grocer, Pharmacy 777, and Ross North Homes to make the free event a reality and we encourage you to generously support the community initiatives by making a voluntary entry donation.

The Jacaranda Festival takes place on Saturday, the 28th of November from 9:30am to 3:30pm in the Ardross Street Village.

We look forward to seeing you there!
