Mount Pleasant mansion rivals record suburb sale

22 January 2022

Mont Property has sold one of Mount Pleasant’s top billing homes for a staggering $9.35 million in an off-market deal that rivals the suburb’s sales record.

The incredible, award-winning property at 18 Baldwin Avenue has been purchased by Perth Heat co-owner and chairman Rory Vassallo.

Vassallo, an astute businessman, is renowned for building a successful chain of Western Australian childcare centres.

His new four bedroom, four bathroom home, dubbed The Residence, spans three storeys and features attractive stonework in a classic, yet modern design.

From the stunning river views to the extensive outdoor area and infinity pool with a spa and resort-style sunbed ledge, the abode is a sight to behold.

But the piece de resistance is the mind-blowing basement, which includes a fully equipped home theatre with tiered seating and a bar; a professional grade golf simulator, gymnasium and steam room.

There is also a showroom style garage and capacity to accommodate eight vehicles.

Constructed by Zorzi, the home took two years to complete. In 2019, it won the Housing Industry Association’s WA Home of the Year and was also named the top Custom Built Home and Outdoor Project.

Mont Property Managing Director Matthew Podesta said he had negotiated the successful off-market deal in early January.

“The lack of listings in the Perth market at the moment means more and more buyers are seeking out real estate opportunities off-market,” Mr Podesta said.

“There really is no substitute for a comprehensive client database, community connections and a good network to help broker these sorts of deals. I’m really happy to have been able to negotiate the sale of such an impressive property for both the sellers and the buyer.”

The current sales record for Mount Pleasant is $11.3 million for a sprawling 3653sqm property, which was purchased in January 2021 for subdivision.
